Emergency Dentist in Brampton

A dental emergency is stressful. At Brampton Smiles we keep daily slots reserved for urgent cases, and same-day dental emergencies are welcome. Call (905) 793-8668 during our open hours and a real person answers. Our front desk will triage your problem and hold a spot for you. Most urgent cases are seen within hours of calling.

What counts as a dental emergency?

  • a broken or chipped tooth
  • a toothache or severe pain
  • swelling in the gum or face
  • a knocked-out tooth
  • a lost filling or crown
  • something stuck between your teeth
  • a badly bitten tongue or lip

If you are not sure whether it is an emergency, call. We would rather hear from you.

How we handle your emergency visit

  1. Call the office right away. The front desk runs a quick triage and reserves a slot for you.
  2. Exam and X-rays. We do a focused exam and take the X-rays needed to find the cause.
  3. Treatment options and a written estimate. You see your choices and the cost before any work starts.

What to do until you get here

  • Knocked-out adult tooth. Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Do not scrub it. If you can, place it back in the socket within 30 minutes. If not, keep it in milk and come in right away.
  • Broken tooth. Rinse your mouth with warm water and save any pieces. Apply a cold pack to your cheek.
  • Toothache. Rinse with warm salt water, gently floss to remove trapped food, and take pain relief as directed on the label. Do not put aspirin on the gum.
  • Lost crown or filling. Keep the crown if you have it. Cover the tooth with sugar-free gum or dental cement from a pharmacy if it is sensitive.
  • Bitten tongue or lip. Clean with water and apply cold. Apply pressure to the bleeding with clean gauze.

If you have facial swelling that is spreading, a fever, or trouble breathing or swallowing, go to the nearest emergency room.

Urgent or emergency?

Emergency care is for sudden problems, such as an accident, a knocked-out tooth or swelling. For planned but prompt treatment, such as a root canal or wisdom tooth removal, see our urgent dental care page.

When are we available?

We are open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 AM to 7 PM, Tuesday and Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM. We are closed Sunday. We are not open around the clock. After-hours messages are returned the next morning, and if your situation is serious outside our hours, please go to the nearest emergency room.

Cost, insurance and CDCP

We follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide, and you receive a written estimate before treatment. We direct-bill most Canadian insurers, and we welcome CDCP patients. We offer 0% in-house payment plans. You can also request a cost estimate on our site.
