Dentures & Partials in Brampton at Brampton Smiles

What Kinds of Dentures Does Brampton Smiles Offer?

Brampton Smiles offers four denture options, chosen based on which teeth are missing, the shape and density of the underlying bone, and the patient's budget and lifestyle.

  • Complete dentures. Replace all teeth in an arch. Custom-shaped acrylic with denture teeth set into the bite.
  • Partial dentures. Replace some missing teeth while clipping onto remaining natural teeth. Available in metal-framework or flexible-acrylic versions.
  • Immediate dentures. Made ahead of time and inserted on the day teeth are removed, so the patient is never without teeth.
  • Implant-retained dentures. Snap onto 2 to 4 dental implants, eliminating slipping and improving chewing efficiency dramatically.

Who Is a Candidate for Dentures at Brampton Smiles?

Most patients in Brampton who are missing a row of teeth or have failing teeth that cannot be saved are candidates for dentures. Dr. Abbas evaluates the underlying bone and gum health on a 3D scan, reviews the bite, and discusses the patient's priorities (chewing, speaking, appearance, budget) before recommending a path forward.

Patients who already have a denture but find it slips, hurts, clicks, or has lost its fit are also good candidates for either a reline (low-cost adjustment) or a switch to an implant-retained design. We do not recommend a new denture if a reline will solve the problem.

What surprises most patients in our consultations is how much the fit changes over time, even with a perfect denture. Bone shrinks slowly under a denture (about 0.5 mm per year on average), so a denture that fit well at year 1 will feel loose at year 5. A reline every 3 to 5 years is normal, not a sign that something went wrong.

What Does the Denture Process Involve at Brampton Smiles?

A complete or partial denture at Brampton Smiles takes 3 to 5 visits across 4 to 6 weeks. The process is unhurried because each step builds on the last.

  1. Consultation and impressions (45 to 60 minutes). Dr. Abbas examines the gums and any remaining teeth, takes preliminary impressions, and discusses options.
  2. Custom impressions and bite registration. Detailed impressions are taken with a custom tray and the bite is recorded so the new teeth meet correctly.
  3. Tooth try-in (30 minutes). The denture is set up in wax with the chosen tooth shape and shade. You see how it looks and feels before the final is processed.
  4. Final delivery (45 minutes). The processed denture is fitted, the bite is adjusted, and home care is reviewed.
  5. Post-delivery adjustments (as needed). Most patients return for 1 to 2 brief adjustments in the first 2 weeks as the denture settles in.

What Is Life Like With New Dentures at Brampton Smiles?

The first 2 weeks with new dentures involve a learning curve for almost every patient. Speech feels slightly different. Eating starts soft and small. The cheeks and tongue need to learn where the denture sits. By week 3, most patients are eating most foods comfortably, and by week 6, the denture feels like a normal part of daily life.

We schedule one follow-up at 1 week and another at 4 weeks for every new denture patient, with no extra charge in the first 90 days for adjustment visits. If a sore spot develops, call us. A 5-minute adjustment can resolve in clinic what would otherwise turn into weeks of discomfort.

Are Implant-Retained Dentures Worth the Cost in Brampton?

For many patients with a slipping lower denture, the answer is yes. Conventional lower dentures rest on a narrow ridge of bone that flattens over time, which is why so many lower dentures eventually become unstable. Anchoring the denture to 2 implants (a "2-on-2" design) eliminates that movement, restores meaningful chewing force, and stops the bone loss in the implant area.

At Brampton Smiles, the most common implant-retained option is 2 implants in the lower jaw with locator attachments under a removable denture. The denture snaps in and out, and the implants stop the bone shrinkage that causes most denture problems. Insurance often covers a portion of both the implants and the denture, billed under separate categories.

“The single best upgrade for a long-time lower denture wearer is two implants. Patients who have lived with a slipping plate for 10 years describe the change as life-changing within the first month. We see the same reaction every time, and it changes how confidently they eat in public.”

FAQs

Frequently Asked About Complete & Partial Dentures at Brampton Smiles

How long do dentures last at Brampton Smiles?

Standard dentures typically need replacement every 7 to 10 years, with relines (refitting the inside surface) every 3 to 5 years to keep the fit comfortable. Implant-retained dentures often last longer, though the locator attachments are replaced every 2 to 3 years for a few hundred dollars. Brampton Smiles tracks each denture in your file and recommends relines before fit problems develop.

Can Brampton Smiles repair my denture in Brampton same-day?

Most simple denture repairs (cracked base, replacing a single tooth that has chipped off) are completed same-day at Brampton Smiles when you arrive in the morning. More complex repairs that require lab work are typically returned in 24 to 48 hours. Call (905) 793-8668 before bringing the denture in so we can prepare.

Does CDCP cover dentures at Brampton Smiles?

Yes, for eligible patients. The Canada Dental Care Plan covers standard complete and partial dentures every 5 to 8 years (depending on the plan year). Implant-retained dentures are not currently fully covered under CDCP. Brampton Smiles confirms exact coverage with the plan in writing before treatment begins.

What if my existing denture is slipping in Brampton?

A slipping denture is usually fixed with a reline, not a new denture. A reline at Brampton Smiles takes about an hour, costs $200 to $400, and restores the fit by adding a new layer of acrylic against the gums. If the denture itself is worn or broken beyond reline, Dr. Abbas will explain the trade-offs and quote a replacement in writing.

How long until my new denture from Brampton Smiles is ready?

Most complete and partial dentures take 4 to 6 weeks from first impression to final delivery, with 3 to 5 short visits in between. Immediate dentures are inserted on the same day extractions are done, so the patient is never without teeth. Implant-retained dentures take longer (3 to 6 months) due to implant healing time.
