What veneers can fix

We choose porcelain over composite for veneers because it looks like real enamel, letting light pass through, and it resists stains.
Are you a good candidate?
Most adults with healthy teeth and gums can be considered. Veneers are not ideal if you have untreated gum disease, grind or clench heavily without a nightguard, have large fillings (a crown is often better), have significant misalignment (aligners first), or have too little enamel to bond to. We often suggest a short clear aligner phase before veneers, which reduces how much enamel must be shaped.
Your veneer process
- Smile design consultation (45 to 60 minutes). Photos, an intraoral scan and a digital mock-up. You approve the result before we prepare anything.
- Same-day delivery. Once you approve the design, about 0.3 to 0.7 mm of enamel is reshaped and each veneer is bonded one at a time. Your bite is adjusted before you leave.
Reversibility and gentler options
Traditional veneers are not fully reversible, because enamel does not grow back. If you want to hold back, ask about minimal-prep or no-prep veneers (only for some cases), whitening (removes no tooth), or composite bonding (fully reversible and a good trial).
How long do veneers last?
Published research puts the average lifespan at 12 to 20 years. Grinding is the main cause of early chipping, so we may recommend a custom nightguard if you grind. We recheck your bite at yearly hygiene visits.
Veneer cost and payment in Brampton
Veneers are considered cosmetic and are usually not covered by Canadian dental insurance. Some plans may contribute if a veneer repairs a truly damaged tooth, and we run a predetermination so you know in writing. Cost depends on how many teeth, whether alignment or gum work is needed first, and lab and materials. Fees follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide, and you receive a written estimate at your free 30-minute consultation. Financing is available. Inquire within. We direct-bill Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield and CDCP where applicable.
Before Your Visit
- Bring photos of smiles you like.
- If you want whiter teeth, whiten first. Porcelain does not whiten, so the veneers are matched to your final shade.
- Tell us if you grind, clench or chew ice.
- Tell us about any tooth sensitivity.
After Your Treatment
- Wait until the numbness is gone before eating. Eat soft foods at first if your teeth feel sensitive.
- Brush twice a day with non-abrasive toothpaste and clean between your teeth daily. Heavily abrasive whitening toothpastes can dull the glaze.
- Do not use your front teeth as tools, bite your nails, or chew ice or pen lids.
- If you grind, wear a nightguard every night, and wear a custom sportguard for contact sports.
- If a veneer chips or loosens, call us at once and keep the piece. Do not glue it yourself.
- Keep your 6-month hygiene visits.
